About the Pattern
The design is fairly simple, with six petals. This rose window will allow us to explore various elements of Gothic ornamentation, including arches, tangency, details shaped like "silhouettes," and a hint of Flamboyant Gothic flair.
This Gothic-style rose window is located in St. Rémi Church in Allemant (France). The original church dates back to the 12th century and underwent numerous modifications up until the 15th century. It also suffered damage during World War I and was restored in the 20th century. As a result, it is difficult to determine the exact date of the rose window. However, it exhibits a style inspired by Flamboyant Gothic architecture.
Course Content
The course will take place over two sessions (duration around 2h to 2h30) the same weekend.
The first session will focus on drawing the main structure of the rose window.
The second session will cover ornamenting the pattern: adding line thickness, creating the pointed "silhouettes," and (depending on progress) introducing colour and rendering elements.
The course is recorded, and you will have access to the recordings for several years.
You can ask questions during the live sessions if you attend, or later via email.
A PDF outlining the main steps of the drawing process is included with the course.
